Glassy Carbon Materials

Through years of intense research and innovative development, we’ve perfected our process to produce these premium products. These products are ideal for plasma etch and ion implantation, as well as other environments that require extremely pure components.

In theory, this substance should act just like graphite and other types of manufacturing substances, but in reality, it doesn’t react as quickly or intensely. This is because it is extremely dense, which differs from traditional types of graphite which are more porous. This density and resistance are much more similar to HOPG and pyrolytic graphite than lower density traditional graphite.

Since the surface orientation is so specific, this type of composite is much better suited to being used as an electrode material. These electrodes, when modified as paste and other manufacturing supplies, are referred to as “modified electrodes.”

Here are some benefits of using glassy carbon materials:

  • Super Intense Purity
  • Very little metal diffusion
  • No Outgassing
  • Theoretical Density (-SiC)
  • Extreme temperature resistance to vacuum or gas reaching temperatures of 3000°C
  • Intense resistance to corrosion
  • No open porosity—impermeable to gas and liquids
  • No wetting by melts
  • Extreme strength and hardness
  • Very low density
  • Low thermal expansion
  • Resistant to thermal shock
  • No particle generation—very high surface quality
  • Biocompatible
  • Great conductivity
  • Isotropy – both chemical and physical

Properties
