Part Design

Reverse Engineering

If you possess old or legacy parts without existing blueprints, MWI offers the capability to generate solid models along with corresponding blueprints based on the physical part.  Furthermore, if you have a damaged, incomplete or legacy part, our engineers will collaborate with you to understand its functionality and then proceed to develop a model and blueprints for your review and approval.

Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a proactive methodology aimed at identifying potential failures within business processes to prevent their occurrence or minimize their impact. By pinpointing where failures may arise and assessing their potential consequences, FMEA helps mitigate risks and enhance overall operational effectiveness. Its systematic approach not only aids in averting costly manufacturing issues but also enhances product quality, service reliability, and customer satisfaction.

The process typically involves seven steps:

  1. Identify Areas for Evaluation: Determine which aspects of the process require analysis.
  2. Establish a Cross-Functional FMEA Team: Assemble a diverse team to provide varied perspectives.

Physical Property Testing to JIS Standards

Our commitment to quality and reliability is reflected in our rigorous testing protocols. Materials are tested to comply with JIS Standards which are comparable to ASTM standards. This ensures that the engineered carbon and graphite solutions we deliver are reliable and of the highest quality. Tse tests include Specific Gravity, Specific Resistivity, Flexural Strength, Thermal Conductivity, Hardness, Density, and C.T.E. (Coefficient of Thermal Expansion).

Specific gravity measures the ratio of a material’s density compared to water, providing valuable information on its composition and internal structure. Specific Resistivity is a measure of how easily a material conducts electricity, which is critical for applications requiring electrical conductivity. Flexural Strength determines a material’s ability to resist bending or breaking under stress. Thermal Conductivity measures how well heat transfers through a material, an important factor in high-temperature applications or thermal management. Hardness is a measure of a material’s resistance to indentation or scratching, which can indicate its durability and suitability for different uses. Density measures the mass of a material per unit volume, providing information on its compactness and weight. Lastly, C.T.E. (Coefficient of Thermal Expansion) quantifies the change in dimensions of a material with temperature, which is crucial for applications that involve changes in temperature.
